How it works
The Finnish Church in London (Suomen Merimieskirkko), at 33 Albion Street, publishes that the sauna is open Wednesday to Sunday with public and private slots, and that it closes for a few weeks a year for events and maintenance. The booking system (Acuity) splits public sessions into men's and women's slots with 8 places each, and states that the private sauna holds a maximum of 8 people. Published rules: shower with soap before entering, sit on a small towel, no glass bottles, throw water on the stones with care (too much steam sets off the fire alarm), no soap, perfume or oils inside the sauna, and only staff touch the sauna settings. Each person books one slot at a time, with cancellation up to 24 hours ahead. The church also has a café, a Finnish shop and accommodation. It does not publish the temperature, heating type or any cold-water option, and does not say whether swimwear is required.
Booked public sessions of 60 or 90 minutes, separated by sex, with up to 8 people per slot.
