How it works
The Kusatsu Onsen site lists Otakinoyu as open 9am to 9pm, with last entry at 8pm. The water comes from the Nikawa spring, acidic and sulphurous per the operator, undiluted and cooled naturally. The "awase-yu" baths run in sequence from about 38°C to 46°C, and there is a large bath, an open-air bath and hot-water cascades, all separate for men and women. There is a sauna, massage rooms, a lounge, the "Yunohana" restaurant and paid rest rooms. The private "Shakunage" bath is rented by the hour from 9am to 7pm.
